Offensive Strategy

I'm starting to get a bit concerned for how 1 dimensional this team seems to be getting on offense. I'm seeing that balance is the key - it's just as bad to run 3/4 of the time as it is to pass 3/4 of the time. I think we've gotten so dependent on Green and U-Bacon that we're losing our ability to pass the ball.

I think we need some new plays - apparently what we have now is so carefully scripted and manned that even Favre can't think of a way to audible most of the time. This must mean that opposing DCs can look at our personel on the field and make a darn good guess as to what the play is.

Walsh's WCO was based on a standard personel set, and a lot of plays that he ran out of that basic set. He considered that he had failed if the defense went into nickle or dime. We now have just the opposite - a different formation and personel set for each play.

Perhaps we've become over-planned, over-scripted, over-specialized. Perhaps this partially accounts for how our passing game has become a bit mundane.

I think we need to get to a place where opposing DCs are at least as afraid of Favre as they are of Green. I don't think we're there right now.
